FRANK MASON
BIRTHDATE: 4/3/94
POSITION: Point Guard
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 190 lbs
SCHOOL/ TEAM: Kansas
CLASS: Senior
Frank Mason was one of the best if not the best player in college basketball all season. He's a great spot up shooter and a very good athlete though he's a bit undersized. He's great in transition and was automatic from 3. He's a good enough playmaker and a pesky defender.
Unfortunately, Mason is already 22 so scouts will see limited upside. I think he's athletic enough to get by for being 5'11" but finishing in traffic will be tough. He's going to have to use his mid range jumper in PNR to counter his size. Also, he's really vanilla in PNR; he almost always uses the screen, rarely rejects and he only successfully split the trap once all season.
POSITIVES:
Great spot up shooter
Very good athlete
Great in transition
Uses floaters
Good playmaker
Can be a pesky on ball defender
Fights over screens
AREAS OF CONCERN:
Older player
Athletic but still under sized
Could benefit from a mid range game in PNR
Pretty vanilla in PNR; doesn't split and rarely rejects
